Tracy Round-Turner – Peabody
As Tracy Round-Turner knows herself, education can have a huge impact on people’s lives – just like housing. Despite suffering from exam anxiety in school, she went on to build a career in education and teaching – experiences that ultimately led her to create the Peabody Academy in 2023.
As principal and founder, Tracy has shaped the academy into a thriving, 17-strong team with a clear mission: to attract, nurture and retain talent in the housing sector. The academy supports existing staff, welcomes new apprentices, and creates pathways for residents through professional development and qualifications. Its offer includes apprenticeships, leadership programmes, compliance training and more.
Under Tracy’s leadership, the academy has achieved remarkable early success. In its first Ofsted monitoring visit, it was awarded ‘significant progress’ across all three assessment areas – an achievement matched by only six other providers nationwide in the past two years. Inspectors praised the academy’s leadership, curriculum and real-world impact on colleagues.
Tracy’s next ambition is gaining ‘main provider’ status to extend the academy’s impact across the sector.
The judges said:
“This is great. Really comprehensive, big ambitions, making a difference already. Love the ambition for the academy to set new standards in recruitment, skills development and retention”
