Tatiana Jose – The Barnet Group
Tatiana Jose has made a lasting impact in Barnet through her tireless commitment to improving lives and amplifying residents’ voices. In the past year alone, she has been instrumental in shaping Barnet Homes’ approach to tackling damp and mould; her efforts led to the creation of the Healthy Homes Team, which has invested more than £2m in tackling damp and mould in residents’ homes.
Under Tatiana’s leadership, a group of residents and leaseholders has been set up – the Repairs Priorities Group – that meets to discuss individual repairs topics in more detail and make recommendations to improve in these areas. Beyond her work with Barnet Homes, Tatiana co-leads the Angola New Life Club with her sister, Lucia. Supporting more than 150 Portuguese-speaking residents, the club helps with practical matters such as form-filling and employment advice, while also providing support for women experiencing domestic abuse.
Tatiana is an outstanding tenant who has gone the extra mile to help her community. Through her leadership, volunteer recruitment, and warm, infectious energy, she is a beacon of positivity and change.
The judges said:
“Supporting people with issues of damp and mould is a hot topic, and Tatiana has shown diligence in bringing this to the forefront and working with the landlord and other residents to find a solution. Good also to recognise her commitment, given her full-time job and additional roles within the community”
